Biography
Michael Dell is the founder, CEO, and chairman of Dell, Inc., the direct-sale computer company he founded in 1984. He is also the author of Direct from Dell: Strategies That Revolutionized an Industry.
Mr. Dell started his computer company with $1,000 and a goal to build relationships directly with customers. By 1992 he had become the youngest CEO to earn a place among the Fortune 500. In 1998 he formed MSD Capital, a private investment firm. In 2001 Dell ranked number one in global market share.
Mr. Dell serves on the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum and the executive committee of its International Business Council. He is a member of the U.S. Business Council. Mr. Dell also serves on the U.S. President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology and the governing board of the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, India.
